COMING: THE BIG DAY OF GOD

Posted on March 5, 2009

Let's be mindful that God is masterminding history even as we face the national money meltdown and social chaos.

God does control the future, and everything is going to be made right.  We, who are friends with Him, look forward to that day of joyful celebration which author Eugene Peterson calls The Big Day of God.

The Big Day of God will be the decisive judgment day.  It will be a wondrous day for the ones who delight in Him, and whose souls rejoice in Him
(Isaiah 61:10).

So, when you and I are tempted to fret (my own dilemma over stocks, revealed in my 3/5/09 blog), let's recall God's perspective from Isaiah 46 on the social chaos that has plagued all nations and all human kind since the beginning of time:

I am God, and there is no other;
I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times,
What is still to come.
I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.
What I have said, that will I bring about;
What I have planned, that will I do.

God is masterminding history.  The Big Day of God is coming, and it is going to be so good.  Meanwhile, let's focus on drawing close to Him - yielding completely to Him, and coming into a deeper, more deep-spirited bond with Him and others.  This brings mega-blessings.

ABOUT MY 201K, UH, I MEAN, 401K
by Gary Chester

What to do about our 201Ks, uh, I mean, our 401Ks...and our Roth IRAs?  My wife, Ro, and I are prayerfully pondering the dilemma, as many of you also are.

Do we cut our losses by dumping out of the market and put what little remains into a credit union?  (What's your advice?  gary@menwhowin.com)
Do we, of the boomer age, continue to invest in the stock market as the government plunges headstrong into manipulation of the economy?**
Do we bet on the market eventually recovering (preferably prior to our death) as has been its history?
